Japanese bondage lessons


Another question, often asked: "I see these Japanse bondage pictures and they are beautiful. But .... how do they do that?" The answer: the only way to learn about Japanese bondage is through teaching.

A good way to start acquiring knowledge and understanding is to read books. There aren't that many, but there is always the "books" section. You can order the e-books instantly online using the order buttons on the right. And another way of course is to watch our instructional Japanese bondage movies.

By far the best and safest way to learn Japanese bondage is "hands on" with the help of experienced teachers. This is classic Japanese attitude towards Japanese bondage instruction and actually around the world. "Hands on" personal teaching allows for a very direct, safe and tailored-to-your-personal-needs approach.

People from as far as South-Africa, the USA and of course Europe have traveled to us for private bondage lessons. On average it takes three, three hour each, teaching sessions to learn the basic techniques. Once you master these basic techniques you will be able to safely experiment and, with the help of the (included) Shibari Fumo Ryu E-book set, find your own way in the wonderful world of Japanese bondage.

We teach Japanese bondage to couples ONLY in our personal, well equipped Japanese bondage room in the Netherlands (Rotterdam area). Next to the actual rope techniques teaching includes health and safety issues and a bit about cultural background, as well as coffee/tea ans softdrinks.

Teaching is most often done in weekends, but midweek arrangements can be made.

What will we learn?
A three lessons course encompasses:
Health, safety and preparation
Introduction to rope
The basis of rope, winding and knot techniques
The "Shinju", "Sakuranbo", "Ahiro" and "Karada" bondages
Basic semi-suspension techniques
Basic suspension and lifting techniques
Included: The "Shibari Fumo Ryu" E-book set and softdrinks, coffee and/or tea

To make arrangements please fill out the form below and make sure to suggest three dates for your first teaching session. Dates for follow up lessons will be discussed after your first session. We will confirm one date via email, including payment details and location (we are situated in the Rotterdam area in The Netherlands). Payment should be made in advance. We will be happy to assist in finding hotel accommodation for you, if needed.

Price: Euro 150 per couple per three hour Japanese bondage instruction session.

You will need to bring your own ropes


We recommend either synthetic of natural woven - not twisted - ropes, diameter 5 to 6 milimeter. Please bring a set of four five meter (17 feet) and three ten meter (34 feet) ropes.
For safety reasons you will also need to bring a sharp knife We recommend a Buck knife or a sailmaker knife, available from boat shops. No (bandage) scissors or box cutters! We also advise to bring one or two towels.
